Players of the Year!!!

Evan Byrd Voted Player of the Year for High School Golf, playing number one on the Trinity Catholic High School Team and still only a sophmore! As good as Fvan is, we are still building his golf swing to play at higher levels and to be competitive at those levels.

Heather Proctor Voted Player of the Year for Lake Wier High School. Heather is now a senior. Her scoring average was right at par, and she played at State in Ocala at Golden Hills, and even thogh she did not play well, she finished 6th! Heather will be attending University of Central Florida on a full golf scholarship. The "Big Mare" (as we like to refer to her) is extremely long and as a result, wants to get better with her short game. She has learned that no matter how long you hit it, you still have to hit the next shot close.

David Arnold Voted Player of the Year for Marion County. David had a career year in 2010. He won the Camp, the Marion Masters, and other events by, in many cases, wide margins. Last year, David obtained his law degree and is waiting to take the bar, and in the meantime, due to his successes, he has turned professional tying to move his game to the next level. David is one of the hardest working, most pleasant people that I have ever been associated with, GOOD LUCK DAVID from all of us here in Ocala!

Heather Proctor, for winning her last two weekend tournaments - The Big Mare stomped on a little filly known as Cindy Fong (great player).

Joey Sposano shot his lowest score ever (91) and I will guarantee he will be in the mid-80's before next summer!

Heather Proctor and Evan Byrd are representing their respective high schools (in Ocala) at State in the first week of November. Let's wish them well, and hope they make good decisions which will reflect in low scores!

...David Arnold, winner of last weekend's Marion Masters! Not only did he win, but he won by six shots and secured Player of the Year honors! Congrats to Dave and good luck to him in his future decisions ;)!

...Evan Byrd - a 3rd place finish in the Marion Masters at only 15 years old! Good luck to Evan in future events including the state tournament!

...Arianna Furry, who won her conference tournament on 9/29/10 by shooting a 36/34 70 and winning by 7 shots! For those of you who think you have to be big to be good, Arianna stands 5 feet tall and weighs only 95 lbs at 15 years old! We wish you continued success as you play your way into the state tournament!

As we vacate 2010, and move forward into 2011, I am teaching some players that you need to keep your eye on! They are currently good with a chance of being REALLY good.

Watch for Grant Godsend, 12 years old. 3 years ago was a beginner, and now is shooting in the mid-70s!!

Watch for Bing Singhsumalee, 14 years old. Played in about 16 IJGA tournaments, winning every single one ! AND HAS THE best average score for all age divisions for these tournaments - 72!

Watch for Allison Walsh, 17 years old. A late bloomer that is figuring out how to put it together while competing in high school. Great head on her shoulders with a terrific attitude. Just needs some experience.

Watch for Paul Gracey, attorney for NiCor. Paul is currently shooting in the 70s more than ever! But most importantly, he has found that elusive draw that's going to drop his scores even more - GO PAUL!!!

Watch for Evan Byrd, 14 years old. Plays for Trinity Catholic. Won the Florida State Junior Match Play and is currently the number one player for Trinity.

Congratulations to Arianna Furry and Kayla Steuland for their most recent wins in High School Invite tournaments.

Arianna won her event with a spectacular 73 and won by 3 shots
Kayla won her 9-hole event at Medinah with a 38 and only took 22 shots inside of 100 yards

Over the past two weeks, the following players and strudents of mine have done something noteworthy! THEY WON A GOLF TOURNAMENT! I would like to congratulate the following:

Arianna Furry with a 76!
Grant Godsen won two one-day tournaments, each time shooting a 76 at only 12 years old!
Noreen Caparuso won her Junior club Championship with an 86 and first time breaking 90!
Dan Caparuso also won his Club Championship for the third time in a row with a 73, 72 and won by 5 shots!
David Mears - He and his partner won the Summer Games with a -12 over two days of competition!
Evan Byrd won the Florida Junior Match Play the year after the winning the Florida Junior Medal Play!
And last but not least...Katie Hodal. Once again, and for the 6th time in 7 years, won Club Championship at Buffalo Grove with a 153 total - only 1 over par!

I could not be prouder of the above students, because not only are they good students, but they are hard workers! WInning at golf is very difficult and all of these students have proven that they are winners!

To all of my students, keep working hard and hopefully in the near future, you'll be in the news as well!
